Why is the national anthem played before the movies at the cinemas in Jamaica?What's the history/reason?

Playing the national anthem before trivial/mundane events cheapens the anthem.It also underestimates the patriotism of Jamaicans,as if right after the movie they're gonna book a flight to Cybertron,the Alien Home Planet in Avatar,or Hogwarts?I asked someone in their fifties about it and was told it has been that way since they were growing up,but why?Was it during the socialist phase of Jamaican History?After independence? Few other countries do it
