Should I buy a new Honda Civic?

I was going to buy a Honda Civic for my 17 year old daughter who will be driving to college. In the showroom they had no safety stars for side/front/rear crash testing. I was told that it was 4 & 5 stars all around and that the data wasn't available for the safety ratings yet. When we went to pick up the car, the sticker was handed to us. To our surprise, the drivers side crash test was 2 out of 5 stars. That's where my daughter would be sitting. We left the dealership without the car, was I over reacting?
